Alteration of serum lactate dehydrogenase activities on bicycle ergometer work

Abstract
For the purpose of evaluating the effects of moderate muscular activities on serum LDH activities, 8 healthy male subjects aged 22-26 years were performed to ride the bicycle ergometer with work load of 100 watt for 30 minutes twice at an interval of 20 minutes.
Serum LDH activities, heart rates and oxygen uptakes were measured during ergometer work and in the course of recovery.
The results obtained were as follows;
i. Heart rate and oxygen uptake reached a steady-state at about the 5th minute of ergometer work. There was no difference in heart rate and oxygen uptake by the repeated ergometer work.
2. Serum LDH activities were 324.1¡¾36.0 unit, 402.5¡¾23.8 unit, and 426¡¾32.4 unit at rest, 5th minute and 30th minute working, respectivly. And in the course of recovery the activities were 454.4¡¾49.0 unit, and 397.9¡¾61.2 unit at 5th minute and 20th minute. As showed above, serum LDH activity was increased gradually to 5th minute of recovery phase and then decreased, but there was no significant change of serum LDH activities during ergometer wok.
3. In the second ergometer work, there was a little increase of serum LDH activity, but no significant difference with comparison of the activity at the first ergometer work except that of 5th minute of recovery phase.
